There are different types of yoga, each one of them has its own unique points, some of them are more physically active than others that’s why it used as a weight loss workout. But basically, yoga is designed to encourage relaxation and reduce stress.

That’s why it is said to benefit both your mental and physical health. So we will be looking at the important points which yoga benefits the human body.
Physical benefits of Yoga
Yoga is a combination of different postures that are meant to strengthen your body from the inside out. Each yoga pose reinforces the muscles around the spine, the center of your body which is the core of your body that is related to all other organs. If you work your spine properly, it can relieve you from the neck, back, or shoulder pain.
Also, your body becomes much more flexible and more muscular especially with power yoga which focuses more on your energy and endurance during postures.

Mental benefits of Yoga
On the other hand. Yoga isn’t all about physical training and that’s the main difference between yoga and any other sport. As yoga is also known for relieving stress and promoting relaxation by decreasing the secretion of cortisol. The main stress hormone. Yoga also has many other different mental benefits some of them are not yet proven by science.
Yoga Reduce stress:
There is a study that followed some women that were suffering from stress and depression. After three months of yoga practice, those women had a significantly low level of cortisol compared to the initial amount. They also didn’t suffer from depression, fatigue or anxiety anymore.
Yoga Fights depression:
Yoga is an antidepressant that reduces depression symptoms. This is also related to the fact that yoga decreases the level of cortisol because it influences serotonin, neurotransmitter often associated with depression.
Yoga Relieves anxiety:
It’s not really clear how yoga helps with anxiety but one study on 34 women diagnosed with anxiety who participated in yoga classes for 3 months showed good results. At the end of the study, those who participated yoga have a significantly lower level of anxiety than those who didn’t participate.
