Whether travelling in a small group or alone, booking train tickets is essential. IRCTC’s online booking service is excellent for booking tickets with just a few friends, but booking tickets in bulk with a large group can be a bit more complicated. We have compiled all the necessary information for you to book IRCTC Group Tickets.

Group Ticket Reservation in IRCTC – An Overview

IRCTC Group Ticket Booking is required when travelling in a large group, such as for weddings, business meetings, or educational tours. IRCTC allows you to book only 6 tickets simultaneously if your Aadhaar-verified User ID is 24 monthly train tickets or 12 passengers if it is not.

Indian Railways allows you to book multiple six tickets, but this does not guarantee that all passengers will be seated in the same coach. If you have more than six passengers, getting bulk tickets can be difficult. Indian Railways offers bulk bookings in all classes of accommodation and on all trains, including Mail/Express trains, Shatabdi trains, Duronto trains, Garib Rath trains, and Special Trains during peak seasons.

How To Book Group Tickets For Indian Railways?

Bulk booking is only possible at ticketing centers. You must visit the computerized reservation counters during working hours to book large quantities of accommodation. Bulk bookings depend on trains’ availability, booking history, and accommodation rules. Once your group ticket booking is confirmed, you can Check PNR Status through redRail to track seat allocation and booking confirmation.

These are the steps to book group train tickets.

  • Decide your journey date. Decide on your preferred trains, number of seats/berths, and list of passengers. Visit your nearest railway station and submit the information to the railway officials. You must also prove that you are travelling in a group. It could be a certificate for a wedding or a certificate for a tournament, business meeting, or educational trip.
  • Permission is required for group tours. The Chief Reservation Supervisor or Stationmaster is authorized to allow bulk bookings in major cities.
  • After obtaining permission, visit the bulk ticket counter at the station to purchase your tickets in bulk.

Conditions Applied To Bulk Ticket Bookings In Railways

  • The Chief Reservation Supervisor, or the shift in charge, can only accept bulk bookings of 50 or fewer passengers.
  • You can book tickets for 100 passengers by contacting the Senior DCM/DTM or Area Manager. Booking for 100 berths depends on the availability of up to 25 percent of the total accommodation.

  • It is important to note that bulk ticketing is not available at all stations.
  • You will need two copies of the name, age, gender, ID, and contact details of each passenger to book bulk tickets.
  • Bulk booking of train tickets must be submitted at least 48 hours before the departure date.
