He was passionate about musical theatre since childhood and attended acting camps. He played Randolph McAfee in the musical Bye Bye Birdie. He and his siblings also performed in front of relatives during Christmas, recalling that being on stage “felt like home.” He took classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute before beginning his senior year of high school. Evans graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in 1999. He was a classmate of Jeremy Strong.
Career
Actor Chris Evans made his television acting debut in the film The Newcomers, a family drama film. In the film, he played a boy named Jude. He starred in the lead role in the eight-episode television series Opposite Sex. In 2001, he starred in Not Another Teen Movie, in which he played a high school football player. The film received mainly negative reviews, but grossed $38 million domestically and $28 million overseas and grossed $66 million worldwide.
For his first comic book role, Chris played the superhero Johnny Storm/Human Torch in Fantastic Four (2005), based on the Marvel comic of the same name.
