Rocks Amphitheatre’s geologically formed sandstone monoliths provide seamless sound for only-in Colorado concert experiences. This outdoor theater in Morrison (about 15 miles west of Denver) has enchanted a wide range of musicians from rock legends like The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix to electronic artists and opera singers.
It’s also on our list of things to do at Red Rocks Concert before summer ends.
Even if you don’t plan on attending a concert under the ever-changing skies of the Rocky Mountains, Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Park grounds offer plenty of other things to do. Red Rock is a magical place where you may test your stamina on the steps of the Amphitheater, take in a classic film beneath the stars, or follow in the footsteps of ancient animals.

Wild Life in The Red Rocks
Among the 868 acres of pine-dotted geological wonders, meadows, wildlife habitats, and dinosaur fossils at Red Rocks Park are the following: There is a juncture between the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains at 6,450 feet above sea level in this park. A wide variety of plants and animals from both ecosystems may be found in the region.

Red Rocks Fossils
With their 300-foot-tall walls, Red Rocks Amphitheatre unwittingly captures the region’s 16-million-year history. A 40-foot sea serpent, marine reptiles, and flying reptiles are among the fossils that may be found here. The area around the theater is also home to dinosaur footprints from the Jurassic era.
The Red Rocks’ stone formations, of course, are a stand-alone attraction. While some structures lean rearward, others might be as steep as a 90-degree angle. Known as “Ship Rock” and “Creation Rock,” the amphitheater’s two most prominent stone pillars are higher than Niagara Falls itself. See where else you may find dinosaur skeletons in Colorado.

The Rock Film Festival
Throughout the summer, Red Rocks Amphitheater hosts a star-studded event (literally) that has been a favorite of residents for almost 20 years. Films such as The Big Lebowski and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off are classic cult films, while newer hits like Deadpool and Star Wars: The Force Awakens is also worth a look.
