Musical movies are always praiseworthy because they have it all.
From a good storyline to awesome acting, from great songs to touching dance moves—musical movies have got a great feel about them that surpasses some non-musicals in a way that nothing could.
The Pirate Bay is the home to many great musical movies, and if you want to get the hang of it, you can download them from this site.
However, not all of these movies have stayed in our hearts after all these years. Only some have done a good job in that aspect, and we feel these movies should be on the list today.
So, let’s start:
1: La La Land
La La Land is a rare beast because it proves a grown-up movie musical doesn’t have to be cheesy or a joke. It’s soaring, passionate, highly elegant, and constantly innovative.
Instead, it’s a swooning, beautifully crafted homage to films like ‘The Umbrellas of Cherbourg’ and ‘Singin’ in the Rain,’ which take place in the semi-dream world of Los Angeles.
Like those movies, La La Land also condenses the ups and downs of romantic love into a very Tinseltown fable, and when Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone dance, we dance with them.
It is a romantic melodrama and a witty comedy, a combination you have seen on the screen before, but the beautiful musical compositions truly set it apart from the rest.
2: Ballerina
In this delightful animated children’s short set in 1879 France, an orphan girl dreams of becoming a dancer. Félicie flees her Brittany orphanage with her buddy Victor. In Paris, he apprentices with Gustave Eiffel while she enters the Opera as a ballerina — under the guise of a wealthy girl.
It’s a classic rags-to-riches story that captures the exhilaration of achievement while also teaching a valuable lesson.
There are a few laughs sprinkled throughout, but this is primarily about the wonder of dreams and dance: the choreography employs motion capture of Paris Opera Ballet dancers to create an uplifting impression.
The picture is also aesthetically lavish!
3: Sing
This entertaining animated flick takes a tired-sounding concept— a comedy centered on a talent show and transforms it into something winning and hilarious.
‘Sing’ is a fast-paced musical that jumps from character to character and song to song. Our protagonist is a koala named Buster Moon.
Buster organizes a singing contest with the assistance of his aging female helper, a lizard, to salvage his decaying theatre.
However, due to a clerical error, the prize money is increased from $1000 to $100,000, and every singing beast in town is queuing outside his door for a chance to win the cash.
4: The Sound Of Music
Robert Wise’s massive production, which was shot in large part on location in Austria, looks stunning yet seems distant. The songs, written by Rodgers and Hammerstein, are like earwigs that burrow into your head for days.
Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer (robots?) are both gorgeous.
Finally, The Sound of Music is neither a heartbreaker nor a physical stunner like many other movies on this list. It is, nevertheless, a Hollywood landmark and a source of comfort food.
That has to count for something, and that’s why we have enlisted this musical on our chart.
5: Scent Of A Woman
The film tries to bind two narratives together.
Charlie Simms is a brilliant young scholarship student whose academic prospects are jeopardized when he becomes involved in a schoolboy prank perpetrated by several well-off classmates.
Slade planned to go on a shopping spree in New York before ending his life in a military-style suicide.
Charlie has the weekend to decide whether or not to inform. The end result is as predictable as it is wholesomely conventional. Still, Pacino as the blind warrior, pulls out all the stops, dancing a mean impromptu tango and eventually coming through for Charlie.
Ready To Dance?
As we have promised at the beginning, these musical movies will surely help you break out in song and dance because the actors captivate our attention so beautifully that we feel their emotions within us.
Hence we do what they do. We sing with them, and we dance with them!
We know you believe that musicals are cliche and PG-13, but not all of them are. So, give these movies a fair shot, and let’s see how you respond to them.
